Prayer Series – Contentment

Content: A state of satisfaction

Philippians 4:11

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

Being content is an important thing because if we are content, our focus can be more securely on God and those things that He has called us to do. Sometimes when we feel that something is perfect (or very close to it), we perceive that as being content. We can be content in those circumstances, but the key, as Paul states in Phil. 4:11, is that we be content whatever the circumstances. Our prayers this week will focus on our spouse obtaining contentment in any of their circumstances (good, bad or indifferent).

Do you think your spouse is content overall? Is your spouse content some of the time? Is your spouse discontent? How would your spouse describe their level of contentment? Does your spouse recognize the importance of being content? Does your spouse recognize that true contentment comes from God? Is your spouse plugged in to God? Does your spouse actively seek out ways to attain contentment in their lives? Is your spouse struggling with discontentment in their lives? Are there specific areas of their lives that cause them to be discontent regularly? Is your spouse positive or negative by nature? Are there ways that you can help them with any struggles they have to find contentment? What things do you say and/or do that add to or detract from your spouse’s contentment?

Take the time to think about the answers to some (or all) of these questions. How would your spouse answer these questions about themselves?

This week, focus your prayers on your spouse and their state of contentment.

Pray that God show your spouse the state of their contentment.

Pray that God show your spouse true contentment.

Ask God to help your spouse with those areas of discontentment in their lives.

Pray that God gives your spouse the desire to know Him more.

Ask God to give your spouse the strength and motivation to do those things that build up contentment.

Pray that God will remove those things that are a distraction to your spouse in growing with Him.

Pray that God walk with them through their journey to be content whatever their circumstances.

Ask God to show Himself to your spouse in tangible ways.

Ask God to help you be an encouragement to your spouse.

Pray a blessing over your spouse and their state of contentment.

Thank God for what a blessing your spouse is to you.

Prayer Series – Spiritual Health

We consider spiritual health to be the most important of the health concerns.

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

We can be weak in body and emotions, but if our spiritual health is strong, we can get through anything. This is our true connection to God. Our spiritual health tells us what our relationship is with our Creator.

What do you think the state of your spouse’s spiritual health is? What do they feel it is? Is your spouse regularly plugged in to God? Does your spouse make a habit of being attuned to what God is doing and speaking into their lives? Do they seek out those people and things that help them build up their relationship with God? Are there things that get in the way of them building that relationship? Are they aware of those things? Do you do things together that build your spouse’s spiritual health? Does your spouse regularly read their Bible and study it? Do you read the Bible together? Do you pray together? Is your spouse a prayer warrior or do they need some prompting to remember God in their busy lives? Most importantly, is your spouse saved?

Take the time to think about the answers to some (or all) of these questions. How would your spouse answer these questions about themselves?

This week, focus your prayers on your spouse and their spiritual health.

Pray that God show your spouse the state of their spiritual health.

Ask God to give them strength to make choices that will build their spiritual health.

Pray that God gives your spouse the desire to know Him more.

Ask God to give your spouse the motivation to do those things that will build their relationship with Him?

Ask God to give your spouse a network of people that will help them grow spiritually.

Pray that God will remove those things that are a distraction to your spouse in growing with Him.

Pray that God walk with them through their spiritual struggles.

Ask God to show Himself to your spouse in tangible ways.

Ask God to help you be an encouragement to your spouse and their spiritual growth.

Pray a blessing over your spouse and their spiritual health.

Thank God for the spiritual blessings that are available to your spouse.

Thank God for what a blessing your spouse is to you.

If your spouse is not saved, pray always that the Lord speak to them and show them their need for His gift of salvation.

Prayer Series – Prosperity

(Merriam Webster Definition) Prosperity: the state of being successful usually by making a lot of money

A Christian’s definition of prosperity should be more than money, particularly since money tends to be a stumbling block for most of us.

(Our definition) Prosperity: the state of being successful in life at those things that matter most to God, i.e., our relationships with God and others.

Matthew 16:26

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

Probably most of us would like to be more prosperous in regard to our finances. That is what we tend to focus on when we hear the word “prosperity”. But being prosperous is so much more according to God. It is the blessings that God wants to give to His children. Sometimes that is monetary. More often it isn’t. That’s okay because we should want to experience all of the blessings God wants to give us. We want our spouses to experience God’s full blessings on their lives.

In the definition that we have applied, do you think your spouse is prosperous? Do they feel like they are? What blessings would you like to see God bestow upon them? Are there things that may be getting in the way of your spouse receiving those blessings? Are there repeating sins that hinder those blessings? Is your spouse aware of those things that hinder their prosperity? Is your spouse aware of the prosperity that they already enjoy? Are they thankful for that prosperity? Do you support them when God raises them up? How are you contributing to their prosperity or lack thereof?

Take the time to think about the answers to some (or all) of these questions. How would your spouse answer these questions about themselves?

This week, focus your prayers on your spouse and their prosperity.

Pray that God shows your spouse how He loves them.

Ask God to reveal the blessings that your spouse already experiences.

Pray that God give your spouse wisdom to make choices that honor that prosperity.

Pray that God remove any barriers that your spouse has to obtaining prosperity.

Ask God to reveal anything that may be hindering their prosperity.

Pray that God give them the strength to change those things that may be a hindrance.

Ask God to give your spouse the right attitude for prosperity.

Ask God to show you how you can positively contribute to them being prosperous.

Pray that God give your spouse humility in the midst of prosperity.

Ask God to take away any fears or doubts that your spouse has about prosperity.

Pray a blessing over your spouse and their prosperity.

Thank God for the blessings that your spouse has and the blessing that they are to you.
